What are the differences between Housewife & Oxford Pillowcases
Difference between cotton and linen
We would recommend a valance around the bed base to make it look pretty first of all. Then add a mattress protector on top of the mattress as well as a topper (easy to apply thanks to our anchor straps). A fitted or a flat sheet should be added next – depending on your preference – followed by a natural-filled duvet cover with one of our luxury cotton duvet covers, and pillows.
Of course, everyone knows how to make a bed, but the real trick is to make it look appealing and welcoming. The design of the pillows and duvet covers are completely up to you, so peruse the options available on the website in order to find something which really suits your room.

Thread count is a term most often associated with duvet covers and bed sheets. Essentially, it refers to the number of thread per square inch of fabric in the item. However, you should be aware that some manufacturers falsify the thread counts for their sheets. With this is mind, we would recommend going for single yarn sheets rather than double as, even though the thread count is typically lower, they often last longer and are of a greater quality. Boutique Linen guarantees the accuracy of thread counts given for all of our products.
Now that you have a better understanding of thread counts, be sure to visit our luxury bed linen section and select the range that most suits your requirements.
Calendered Explained
Calendered refers to any cotton fabric which has been through a special finishing process, during which heat and pressure are applied to make the fabric appear more lustrous.
Percale sheeting is the finest you can buy and comprises a plain weave, closely woven and spun fabric which is made from both combed and carded yarns. Percale fabric gets its soft, silky feel from its especially high thread count.
What's the difference between cotton and linen?
Natural fibres fall into two main groups: protein fibres, which come from animals, and vegetable fibres which come from plants. The main ingredient in all vegetable fibres is cellulose, a carbohydrate found in all plant life. Both cotton and linen are vegetable fibres. Linen is made from the flax plant, cotton is made from the cotton plant.
What is Jacquard?
A
design created by weaving different coloured threads together using a special
loom which can raise or lower each thread as you stitch. This can be used to
create intricate patterns on the pillowcase. Joseph Jacquard invented this decorative weaving technique in 1804.
